Cervar Porat

A rather small place, Cervar is remote from the coast. Cervar-Porat is famous for a modern complex of tourist apartments. The area is surrounded by coniferous forests, olive-groves and vineyards.

Cervar-Porat Marina has 450 berths in the sea and 50 places on the land; vessel length 3-13 m.

CERVAR-PORAT, a tourist village on the western coast of Istria, located in the indented Luka Cervar from Rt Cape to the Mirna bay. In the Lunga cove in front of the tourist village is a marina (1980), well protected from winds; the breakwater is 100 m long.

In ancient times here was a habitation called Portus Cervera. Immediately along the coast a Roman summer mansion (villa) has been discovered with a trade and a residential part (hypocaust, pools). During the 1970-80s a tourist village was built in the Lunga cove, which accommodates 6,500 visitors, the first example of integral regulation of a seasonal town on the Croatian Adriatic coast. The physical plan and architecture are based upon regional features of the Primorje urban agglomerations. - Above the town are the remains of an Illyrian hill-fort and a mediaeval tower.
