Motovun is set to be interesting for high net worth tourism in Croatia. There is a polo club planned in the valley to the East of it, associated with a developer who already has similar clubs in Argentina and Spain.
On the West side of Motovun the new golf project has now been approved. There is just a driving range at the moment but this will become a full 18hole course and financing is already in place. There are 22 golf locations identified in Istria, although perhaps 8-10 will happen. At present Motovun is one of three that have completed their environmental impact studies. The other two are at Markocija, near Buje, which also has financing in place and Liznjan. Others are still undergoing planning applications.
