There is a saying: "As many days in a year, as many islands of Kornati". Let us introduce you to at least few of them.

KORNATI -all that you wish to know

Postby Kristian on Wed Sep 12, 2007 9:21 am

This is a topic in which you can ask all that you wish to know abou KOrnati: how to reach it, what to do or see there, where to stay,...
Here, I´ll go first!
When I visited Kornati last year, what impressed me the most was their "Crowns", both above and under the sea :D "Crowns" are a steep rifs that stretch way from Istria to Dalmatia, and that are homes to peregrine falcon, shag, common swift, centaurea ragusina plant community,...
But, beware you rock climbers -climbing on the "Crowns" is not allowed!
But, the unforgettable thing is to dive and see the underwater "Crowns", that´s surely a scenery you´ll never forget!

and, now you...

I heard that those who wish to experience somewhat different vacation can choose to reside at a Kornati family. Basically, you get with the tourist board, ask to find you a family from Kornati or near Kornati, and wait for them to contact you. That way you can spend your vacation living in a different, simple ways of life and try your luck in olive-picking, hunting domestic sheep "turned wild", sheep shearing, fishing for lunch, ...
Apparently, this is available all year around :)

And, here are some rules for divers in Kornati:
-individual diving (outside the approved organized groups) is not allowed!
-during a diving visit it is not allowed to touch and/or take anything out of the sea (except for possible waste). It is forbidden to intentionally disturb or harm the sea creatures.
-night time diving (between 7PM and 7AM) is not allowed!
-the maximum allowed depth during diving visits at the Kornati National Park is 40 m.
