Labin is the town situated in the south-eastern part of Istria, 5 km north-west of the harbor Rabac.
It comprises two separate parts, the old town on top of the hill and the more recent settlement, Podlabin. Situated on a limestone hill which is sharply abrupt to the valley of Rabac brook and towards the sea coast; elevation 320 m. Mining used to be the major occupation which has nowadays given way to metal industry, wood processing, trade and tourism; cultural and educational center. Labin is located on the main road (M2, E751) Rijeka - Pula.
